NACD-APRAXIA is a popular mobile application that helps therapists and parents treat children with apraxia. NACD’s services are based on neurodevelopmental assessments for each of its clients.
Robert J. Doman Jr. is the founder of the National Association for Child Development or NACD that has worked with over 30,000 clients over 30 years. NACD’s services are based on the neurodevelopmental assessment of an individual client.
The client has created multiple individual developmental and neurodevelopmental programs for children and adults. The NACD approach to neurological development has helped many children and adults to unlock their potential.

The client wanted to develop a unique and effective speech therapy app for Apraxia. His goal was to enhance the development and function of children and adults.
Besides, he wanted an app which could be easily used by the speech therapists or adults with Apraxia. So, he wanted us to include the followings in the app development:
Developed for the National Association for Child Development team, including a certified speech-language pathologist, the Apraxia app had to provide choices of different phonemes to target and move through a progression of levels that challenged motor planning for speech.
In our efforts to give back to the community, Blue Whale Apps partnered with NACD (National Association of Child Development) and developed the series of Apraxia Apps.
Blue Whale Apps developed a group of 4 apps, ‘Speech Therapy – Apraxia’, ‘Speech Therapy – Apraxia Words’, ‘Speech Therapy – Apraxia 2 syllables’, and ‘Speech Therapy – Apraxia endings’. All 4 apps serve the specific target of age groups and provide choices of different phonemes to target and move through a progression of levels that challenge motor planning for speech.
The series of 4 Speech Therapy iPad apps are a convenient, effective tool for children with Childhood Apraxia of Speech/dyspraxia. We made sure that this can be used for:
We succeeded in developing the NACD-APRAXIA mobile application to facilitate apraxia, either therapists or parents.
The Apraxia apps provide choices of different phonemes to target and move through a progression of levels that challenge motor planning for speech.
Because the emphasis is on the individual’s production, the parent or therapist should be an active participant, providing the user with feedback, reinforcement, and additional modeling. These apps are not intended for independent use by the child/student. Following people can use this app:
Speech Therapy for Apraxia – 2 Syllable Words is intended to be the next step in a progression after the one-syllable words of our previous app, has been mastered. Targeting specific patterns of articulation within 2-syllable words and ending, these apps are a fun way to practice basic speech sounds and motor planning.
At the end of it all, we felt privileged to be a part of the project as we could do something for the well-being of our community.
