Apple Special Event September 2019: Announcement Highlights

Apple, the most valuable innovative technology company in the world often holds its own events. Usually, it holds three to four events in a year; a spring event in March, Worldwide Developers Conference in June, a September event focused on iPhones and Apple Watch and sometimes an October event for releasing updates and launches related to iPad and Macs.

The recent Special Event was held on September 2019, at Apple Park. Now that this Special Event by Apple is over, here is a quick highlight showcasing everything that Apple announced at its keynote on September 10, when the Apple CEO Tim Cook took the stage.

Key announcements made at the Apple Special Event September 2019

While we all thought that the September event would be mostly centered around the new iPhone launches, but much of the event was not only about iPhone. There are definitely three new iPhone releases, however, there are a couple of more announcements that got quite a lot of attention. Check out everything that Apple unveiled in September 2019 event.

1. iPhone 11

Tim Cook kicked off the keynote by mentioning how well the iPhone XR performed after its launch last year and so launching a successor to that was definite. We saw the announcement of the iPhone 11 at the event, replacing its current XR model. The new iPhone 11 comes with a glass and aluminum body with a 6.1-inch Liquid Retina display. However, the major upgrade is two 12-megapixel camera lens, one with an ultra-wide-angle lens for capturing stunning landscape shots, and another with a regular wide-angle lens.

iPhone 11 is powered by Apple’s new A13 Bionic chip along with a great boost in battery life and specs. The pricing of the iPhone 11 starts at $699 and is available since September 20.

2. iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max

Along with iPhone 11, Apple also introduced iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max, both available in a variety of colors, including midnight green, space grey, silver, and black. iPhone 11 Pro comes with a 5.8-inch display, on the other hand, iPhone 11 Pro Max comes with a 6.5-inch display. Both the phones come with A13 Bionic processor, providing significant improvements compared to its predecessor iPhone XS, such as longer battery life and faster performance.

Apart from these, the feature that has grabbed everyone’s attention is the camera upgrade in both iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. Both models comprise three 12-megapixel lenses, one with a telephoto lens, another with a wide-angle lens, and third with an ultra-wide-angle lens.

With the launch of these new iPhones, Apple has also launched a new software called Deep Fusion, which utilizes Machine Learning to combine long and short-exposure photos for creating a single image. The pricing of iPhone 11 Pro will start at $999, and iPhone 11 Pro Max at $1,099. Both these models are available since September 20.

3. Apple Watch Series 5

Apple also revealed the Apple Watch Series 5, delivering significant upgrade enhancements compared to its previous model Apple Watch Series 4. The new Watch Series 5 boasts ‘No-Sleep’ Retina display, which allows users to easily take a glance at a watch to activate display, without having to lift the arm. To ensure, it consumes less energy, the new Apple Watch Series 5 uses power-efficient LTPO technology, providing an 18-hour battery life.

Apple Watch Series 5 comes with an international emergency calling, allowing users to call for emergency help anywhere, anytime. All the customers that liked Apple Watch Series 4 for its ECG, fall detection, and fitness capabilities, are definitely going to love Watch Series 5 since now it comes with Noise alerts (to alert loud noise or increase in decibel levels that impact hearing) and tracking of menstrual cycles. Not only this, it also boasts a Compass and provides access to 50 million songs from Apple Music library.

The new Apple Watch Series 5 comes in a slightly thinner version, in a variety of materials like aluminum, ceramic, stainless steel, and titanium and is priced between $399 and $499 for LTE models.

4. iPad

Apple also revealed the seventh generation of its iPad, announcing an upgrade to its 9.7-inch iPad. Although there aren’t many changes in the features of the new iPad compared to the 2018 iPad, there is one significant difference, which is the display size. The new iPad comes with a larger 10.2-inch Retina display along with a smart keyboard.

The new iPad supports A10 Fusion chip, allowing users to edit a 4K video, play graphics-intensive games, and experience AR apps. This new thinner, lighter, and durable version of the iPad is priced at $329.

5. Apple TV+

In the Apple Showtime Event, which happened on March 2019, Apple revealed Apple TV+. Apple TV+ is a streaming service by Apple that broadcasts original content produced by Apple for TV shows and movies. In this event, Apple made it official that it is all set to start from November 1, 2019. Few of the shows and programs that will be available from November 1 include See, The Morning Show, Dickinson, For All Mankind, Snoopy in Space, Truth Be Told and many more, starring exclusive stars and celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, Jason Momo, among others.

 Apple TV+ will be available in more than 100 countries for $4.99/month.

6. Apple Arcade

The last, but not the least is Apple Arcade. Apple Arcade is a service that combines all the games for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV in one place. Available from September 10, 2019, Tim Cook announced that Apple Arcade will give access to 100+ games, all in one subscription. To develop this gaming service, Apple teamed up with world’s renowned developers to create games like Frogger in Toy Town, Sayonara Wild Hearts, Shinsekai Into the Depths, Sonic Racing, Lego Brawls and many more.

Apple Arcade is available in more than 150 countries for $4.99/month.

So that completes the list of important highlights of the announcements made at the Apple Special Event September 2019. However, Apple may add more to this list in its final event of 2019 that might happen in mid-October. Rumors are that, in this potential event in October, Apple may launch new products and updates related to Macs and iPads.
