Apple released its latest iOS version, iOS 13 for iPhones, in September 2019. Wondering what’s the news here when Apple introduces a new version every year?

Well, the important news is that iOS 13 is not just an update, it is a huge leap for iOS that can astonish the users and leave them mesmerized. This update offers a package of amazing new features and exciting updates to already-existing features.

Exciting New Features and Improvements Offered in iOS 13

The list of added features and improvements or updates to existing features offered by iOS 13 release (and its sub-releases) is endless. But some significant and exciting new features and updates you cannot afford to miss are listed here.

1. Dark Mode for a Wonderful View Even in Low Light

The latest iOS version, iOS 13, adds a special feature that iOS users would cherish. You now have a new dark color scheme that delivers a beautiful viewing experience, especially in low-light environments.

You can schedule to turn on this “Dark Mode” automatically at sunset, at a certain time, or turn on from Control Center.

That’s not all! Four new system wallpapers have been added that automatically switch appearances with Light and Dark Mode.

2. Better Photo and Video-Editing Tools

With iOS 13, you now get a new Photos tab with a curated view of your library that helps you find, view, and share your photos and videos with ease.

It also offers new and more powerful photo-editing tools making it easier to edit, adjust, and review photos. You get an amazing video-editing facility with over 30 added tools to include rotating, cropping, and enhancing.

Another surprise is the new Portrait Lighting effect (available only on iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max) called High-Key Light Mono, designed to create a wonderful look by setting a monochromatic subject against a white background.

3. Improved Maps

With iOS 13 updates, maps for the US offer broader road coverage, improved address precision, better support for pedestrians, and more detailed land cover. You can now explore cities in a high-resolution, interactive 3D experience.

You can save your favorite locations with “Favorites” for quick and easy navigation to the places you visit daily.

It also offers real-time transit and real-time flight updates now.

4. Reminders Got Smarter

The new iOS 13 version offers more powerful and intelligent ways to create and organize reminders. The quick toolbar enables you to add dates, locations, flags, attachments, etc.

Besides, you get new smart lists to easily keep track of upcoming reminders.

5. Amazing Augmented Reality Features Added

iOS 13 offers a magical range of AR features for AR apps. People Occlusion enables the placement of virtual objects naturally in front of or behind people using the iPhone (XR, XS, and XS Max models).

Motion Capture for AR apps enables understanding the body position and movement of a person. So, you can now animate a character or interact with virtual objects using iPhone XR, XS, and XS.

This new version of iOS offers AR Quick Look feature that helps you view and interact with multiple AR objects at the same time.

6. Voice Controls Grow Stronger

The iOS 13 users can now control their iOS devices entirely with voice. The new version now offers comprehensive navigation with just your voice to include opening apps, searching the web, tapping, swiping, zooming, activating the Home button, and more.

Dictations got more accurate using the Siri speech recognition engine. You can also perform rich text editing and make required corrections using your voice.

Your iPhone (on supported models) now has attention awareness that will turn Voice Control off as you turn your head away from True Depth camera.

7. Privacy and Security Made Robust

With iOS 13, users now get background tracking alerts to notify you when an app is using your location in the background.

The new update offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enhancements that prevent apps from accessing your location without your consent.

Now, you can easily omit location data when sharing photos with the new location sharing controls.

8. Magical Offline Finder Introduced

Find My iPhone feature allowed iPhone users to locate their lost phones easily from iCloud.com. With iOS 13, you get a magical update in this feature too that allows this feature to work even when the phone has no internet connection or is in the no-signal zone.

9. Screen Time Feature Enhanced

With iOS 13 updates, users can now compare Screen Time numbers over the previous weeks with 30-day usage data. There is a new “One More Minute” option or feature that users can take advantage of when the Screen Time limit is met, allowing you to quickly save your work or log out of a game.

Furthermore, iOS 13.3 update released recently, adds two more exciting features and improvements to Screen Time parental controls. The parents can now set limits on who their children can call, message, or FaceTime.

Another good parental control feature added is the Contact List for children that allows parents to manage the contacts appearing on their children’s devices.

To Summarize

The list of added features and updates in iOS 13 is endless. But, soon after its release, iOS 13 met with multiple bugs that resulted in Apple releasing 3 more updates within 2.5 months, to include 13.1, 13.2, and 13.3 to improve and fix the bugs in iOS 13.

For this reason, Apple is planning to have more focus on testing with the next major update, iOS 14. So, we can expect a bug-free experience and many more exciting features with the new version soon.
